Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive project roadmap outlining key activities, milestones, and potential risks, from conceptualization through closure.
  • Conduct scoping and pre-feasibility studies aligned with project objectives including time, quality, safety, and commercial targets.
  • Lead feasibility studies to ensure project deliverables meet technical and commercial requirements within defined timelines and budgets.
  • Prepare detailed tender documents specifying project requirements, collaborating with finance and legal teams.
  • Evaluate and pre-qualify contractors, licensors, and vendors based on cost-effectiveness, technology reliability, safety, quality standards, and track record.
  • Incorporate contractual safeguards mitigating delays, budget overruns, and quality issues.
  • Secure timely approvals from regulatory and legal authorities.
  • Monitor project progress regularly through S-Curves, short-term look-aheads, and change control mechanisms.
  • Proactively resolve issues, facilitating approvals and sign-offs with contractors and vendors.
  • Supervise project expenditures alongside finance teams to keep costs within approved budgets.
  • Enforce quality standards and industry best practices across all deliverables, including material selection, procurement, and technology adoption.
  • Track and manage deviations in safety, quality, and schedule as per project plans.
  • Report project status and progress to Management Committees and Board periodically.
  • Build and mentor high-performance teams aligned with organizational vision, driving capability development and succession planning.
  • Lead efforts to mitigate risks, ensuring comprehensive contractor and vendor evaluations to avoid single-source dependencies.
  • Take key project decisions regarding progress monitoring, contractor/vendor selection, budget approvals, and conflict resolution.

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 20+ years of experience in project execution, operations, maintenance, and engineering in fertilizer or petrochemical plants.
  • At least 8 years in a projects leadership role handling capital-intensive chemical projects.
  • Engineering degree in production/manufacturing or related field.
  • Strong project management, techno-commercial skills, and compliance focus, especially in quality and HSE.
  • Proactive risk identification and management capabilities.
