Job Description

Job Summary:

Robotic MIG Welding Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the programming, setup, and troubleshooting of

    Panasonic Robotic MIG Welding systems

    .
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain

    robotic weld programs

    for high-volume production of

    tubular automotive components

    .
  • Collaborate with the design and process engineering teams to

    develop welding fixtures

    , jigs, and automation strategies tailored to tubular assemblies.
  • Ensure

    weld quality compliance

    with OEM and customer specifications (e.g., weld penetration, bead appearance, strength).
  • Conduct

    weld trials, validations, and PPAP

    activities for new product introductions (NPI).
  • Identify and implement

    continuous improvement

    initiatives using tools such as

    Kaizen, PFMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis (5-Why, Fishbone)

    .
  • Manage welding consumables, parameters, cycle times, and robot path optimization for

    maximum throughput and minimal downtime

    .
  • Support

    preventive and predictive maintenance

    strategies for welding equipment and robotics.
  • Provide training and guidance to

    robot operators, maintenance, and quality teams

    on robotic welding operations and safety protocols.
  • Ensure strict adherence to

    safety, environmental, and quality standards

    (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001).

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or Diploma

    in Mechanical/Production/Automotive Engineering or related field.
  • 8–10 years of hands-on experience in

    robotic MIG welding

    , specifically using

    Panasonic robots

    (G3, TAWERS, or similar systems).
  • Strong background in

    tubular components

    welding, including round and square tubing, intersections, and complex geometries.
  • Proficiency in

    robot programming

    , path teaching, weld parameter settings, and torch alignment.
  • Deep understanding of

    welding metallurgy, heat-affected zones, and joint design

    for tubular components.
  • Familiarity with

    automotive quality systems

    , PPAP, control plans, and weld inspection techniques (visual, destructive, non-destructive).
  • Working knowledge of

    PLC interface

    , safety sensors, and robotic cell integration.
  • Ability to read and interpret

    engineering drawings, GD&T, and weld symbols

    .
  • Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma experience is a strong advantage.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with

    offline programming

    software (e.g., DTPS or similar).
  • Exposure to

    Industry 4.0

    tools for welding data monitoring and analytics.
  • Certifications such as

    CWI (Certified Welding Inspector)

    or

    Robotic Welding Certification

    .
  • Leadership or supervisory experience in a welding-focused production environment.
