Production Manager

Production Manager Roles & Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Scheduling

• Prepare

  daily, weekly, and monthly production plans

  based on sales targets and inventory levels.
• Allocate

  manpower, machines, and materials

  efficiently to meet production timelines.
• Monitor

  capacity utilization

  , machine loading, and ensure zero downtime.
• Prepare and maintain

  Batch Manufacturing Records (BMR)

  and ensure formula accuracy.

2. Raw Material & Inventory Management

• Calculate

  daily RM requirements

  based on formulas and production targets.
• Verify

  minimum stock levels (MSL)

  and trigger timely purchase indents.
• Monitor

  RM consumption vs production

  to avoid variances and wastage.
• Coordinate with stores for

  daily stock checking

  , GRN, and re-order planning.

3. Quality Control & Process Monitoring

• Ensure all batches meet

  QC parameters

  , viscosity, density, shade, drying time, etc.
• Maintain

  process discipline

  on mixers, reactors, ball mills, emulsions, grinding, thinning, filtration, and packing.
• Implement

  SOPs and safety protocols

  for handling chemicals and machinery.

4. Team Management & Supervision

• Handle

  shift planning

  , manpower allocation, and ensure timely attendance.
• Train operators on

  machine handling, batch accuracy, hygiene, and safety

  .
• Resolve on-floor issues and maintain smooth operations across departments.
  

5. Cost Control & Calculations

• Strong calculation skills for

  batch costing, RM per batch, yield %, wastage %, and consumption variances

  .
• Continuously monitor

  power, labor, RM, and packing material

  costs.
• Implement cost-saving ideas without compromising quality.
  

6. Coordination with Other Departments

• Work closely with

  Purchase

  ,

  Sales

  ,

  QC

  ,

  Maintenance

  , and

  Dispatch

  .
• Provide

  daily production MIS reports

  to management.
• Coordinate dispatch planning to ensure

  on-time deliveries

  .

7. Compliance, Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain complete documentation:

  SOPs, BMRs, stock reports, batch sheets, QA records, RM issue slips, and packing slips

  .
• Follow

  ISO, Factory Act, Pollution, and safety compliance

  norms.
• Prepare monthly reports on

  production output, machine efficiency, downtime, and complaints

  .

8. Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

• Identify and solve production issues: machine breakdown, manpower shortages, RM shortages.
  
• Improve productivity through

  Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and wastage reduction

  .
• Analyze

  customer complaints

  and take corrective actions on process.

Key Skills Required
