Production Head

Job Purpose

To lead and manage the end-to-end production operations of the gabion manufacturing unit, ensuring high-quality output, optimal productivity, cost efficiency, and compliance with industry standards for road and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Execution

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on sales and project requirements.
  
• Ensure continuous and timely production of gabion boxes, mesh panels, and associated materials.
  
• Optimize machine utilization, manpower deployment, and shop-floor workflow.
  

2. Operations & Process Management

• Oversee wire drawing, galvanizing, mesh weaving, cutting, and assembly operations.
  
• Ensure adherence to technical specifications (mesh size, tensile strength, coating, etc.).
  
• Monitor and maintain production parameters to meet quality and output targets.
  
• Implement lean manufacturing practices for efficiency improvement.
  

3. Quality Assurance

• Coordinate with QA/QC teams to ensure products meet IS/ASTM/BIS standards used in road construction and retaining structures.
  
• Ensure testing of wire tensile strength, zinc/aluminum coating, mesh uniformity, and assembly quality.
  
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for defects or deviations.
  

4. Team Management

• Supervise production supervisors, machine operators, technicians, and labor workforce.
  
• Conduct regular training for skill development and safety.
  
• Promote a disciplined, safe, and productive work environment.
  

5. Maintenance Coordination

• Work with the maintenance department to ensure preventive and breakdown maintenance of gabion weaving machines, galvanized wire equipment, cutters, and assembly tools.
  
• Minimize downtime through proactive planning.
  

6. Inventory & Material Management

• Monitor consumption of wire rods, GI wire, PVC-coated wire, and packing materials.
  
• Coordinate with procurement for timely availability of raw materials and spares.
  
• Reduce wastage and scrap through process control.
  

7. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with factory laws, environmental standards, and safety protocols.
  
• Conduct safety drills and enforce PPE usage across the unit.
  
• Maintain documentation for audits and inspections.
  

8. Reporting & Documentation

• Provide daily/weekly production reports, output vs. target, machine performance, and manpower utilization.
  
• Monitor cost indicators and work on productivity improvement initiatives.
  

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelors Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field.
  

• 8–15 years of experience

  in manufacturing, preferably in gabions, wire products, metal mesh, or similar industries.
• Strong understanding of galvanizing, wire processing, mesh weaving, and QC standards.
  
• Experience managing a production team and handling large-volume manufacturing.
