Roles & Responsibilities:
- Ensure
smooth assembly line operations
to meet production schedules (daily/shift targets). - Allocate manpower effectively across workstations.
- Monitor takt time, cycle time, and balance workloads to avoid bottlenecks.
- Coordinate with material supply/logistics teams to ensure parts availability on the line.
2. Quality Assurance
- Conduct
in-process quality checks
at each stage of assembly. - Implement and monitor
standardized work
to ensure defect-free assembly. - Lead
root cause analysis
(5-Whys, Fishbone) for quality issues and implement corrective actions. - Ensure adherence to Toyota s
Jidoka principle
(stop line when abnormality occurs).
3. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead a team of
Team Leaders & Team Members
on the line. - Provide
on-the-job training
(OJT) for new operators. - Coach team members on safety, quality, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Motivate and engage operators through daily meetings and problem-solving activities.
4. Safety & Discipline
- Ensure strict adherence to
safety standards
and PPE usage. - Conduct
safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard elimination
on the line. - Drive 5S (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) in the work area.
5. Continuous Improvement (
Kaizen
) - Drive
Kaizen activities
on assembly line for: - Reducing waste (Muda)
- Improving ergonomics & productivity
- Reducing cycle time & downtime
- Participate in
PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act)
cycles for line improvement. - Contribute to
TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)
by ensuring equipment upkeep in the line.
6. Coordination & Reporting
- Act as a
link between Shop Manager / Assistant Manager and Team Leaders
. - Maintain production records, downtime logs, and quality defect reports.
- Escalate critical issues (quality, safety, machine breakdowns) to higher management.
7. System & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with
ISO / IATF 16949 / EMS standards
. - Maintain documentation related to assembly process audits, traceability, and process controls.
- Implement Toyota s
TPS pillars Just-In-Time (JIT) and Jidoka
in daily operations.
