Procurement Transformation Lead

As the functional lead for procurement within the Ariba transformation programme, you will be responsible for operationalising Ariba Contracts, designing intuitive Guided Buying experiences, and driving adoption of best-in-class buying channels aligned to category strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead the procurement workstream within the banks Ariba S2P transformation initiative, ensuring timely and compliant delivery of key milestones.
2. Operationalise Ariba Contracts by enabling metadata, clauses, and structured templates to support downstream Guided Buying and compliance requirements.
3. Create and curate content for

   Ariba Guided Buying

   , tailored to internal policies, approval workflows, and end-user needs in a regulated financial environment.
4. Collaborate with category managers and compliance teams to define fit-for-purpose buying channels (catalogs, punchouts, forms) across a wide range of indirect spend categories (e.g., IT, professional services, facilities).
5. Ensure procurement processes and Ariba configuration are aligned with internal controls, third-party risk, and financial governance frameworks.
6. Support supplier onboarding and enablement through Ariba Network, in coordination with vendor management and risk functions.
7. Ensure all procurement activities within Ariba meet regulatory obligations including audit trail, contract recordkeeping, and data privacy (e.g., GDPR, SOX).
8. Act as a key liaison between Procurement, Risk, Legal, Technology, and Finance teams to ensure consistent alignment across the S2P lifecycle.
9. Provide SME-level guidance on Ariba functionality and procurement best practices to internal stakeholders.
10. Define KPIs with timelines and deliver them.
11. Drive change management and training for end users, especially within a federated or regionally dispersed banking environment.

Required Skills & Experience:

1. 10+ years of progressive experience in procurement or sourcing within financial services, with a focus on digital transformation or S2P.
2. Expert knowledge of SAP Ariba modules, including:
1. Guided Buying
2. Contracts
3. Buying & Invoicing
4. Sourcing
5. Catalogs
6. Supplier Lifecycle & Performance
3. Strong experience operationalising Ariba Contracts and designing content-rich Guided Buying portals tailored to policy and regulatory needs.
4. Deep understanding of indirect spend categories and how they apply within a banking environment (e.g., outsourcing, software, consulting).
5. Demonstrated ability to manage complex stakeholder environments, particularly in matrixed financial organisations with strong compliance functions.
6. Familiarity with third-party risk management, data privacy, and internal audit requirements specific to banking and FS institutions.
7. Outstanding communication, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
8. Ariba certification or equivalent training highly desirable.
9. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or related discipline; Master’s degree is a plus.
