Principal Engineer - Project Controls

Role Summary

WSP is seeking a Principal Project Controller to join AU iCRC PMO team. This is a critical role required to manage the team of Project Controls professional and plan, manage, and monitor Project Controls works using a variety of typical tools, including the use of Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Power BI and other Project support systems. This role will work closely with and support the Australian based Project Controls Mangers, Project Manager and Commercial Executives who would be directly supporting Project Management aspects of range of major infrastructure projects across Rails, Airports, Roads, other Civil and Mining domains.

As a member of the PMO team, you will be given opportunities to apply your education and experience on large, complex projects. You will gain knowledge through mentorship and skills development, fast-tracking your professional development to becoming a strong technical leader in Project Controls.

Responsibilities

Manage a team of Project Controls professionals for iCRC AU PMO.

Work with multidisciplinary teams of Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and Contract Administrators, Sub-Consultants, and other staff as required.

Provide project oversight and governance and establish an interface with Clients and our internal Project Controls Team.

Perform project management (budgeting, schedules, contract administration, invoicing, quality review of deliverables etc.) tasks.

Actively manage baseline budgets/schedules and work breakdown structure to manage hours and expenditures.

Ensure that the Project Execution Plans, Financial Forecasting, Resource Plans and Schedules are prepared, managed and updated as necessary.

Present operational information to senior management in a clear, concise, and confident manner, with the goal of aligning them to WSP s growth strategy.

Leading WBS and project coding structures using Primavera P6 software with Project Planners and Schedulers.

Identify, notify and propose resolutions, for the deviations from the current plan, including items that have a notable threat impact to project scope, schedule and cost.

Implement and execute methods for effective progress measurement based on the size and complexity of a project.

Assist in preparing reporting packages for project, sponsorship and executive review teams.

Participate in meetings and information sessions with business management and executive management as required.

Review monthly billings to the client for accuracy and appropriateness and approve prior to submission. Track receipt of payments and distribution to sub-consultants; report status internally as needed.

Key Competencies / Skills / Qualifications

A master s degree in engineering, or Project Management is preferred.

Experience of managing Project Controls team of at least 5 people.

12 -15 years of relevant experience in a Project Controls.

PMP, or Prince 2 certification.

Membership of professional organizations like PMI, RICS, APM etc. preferred

Project Controls experience on Major and Complex multidisciplinary projects.

Well versed with project management, risk management and EVM language and terminologies.

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and Outlook; Power Bi and Power Apps.

Advanced Microsoft Excel (VBA), Primavera 6 (P6),

Adaptability and flexibility including the ability to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity and change.

Ability to work on several projects or tasks concurrently, manage time, organize, and set priorities.

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, as the role requires continuous interaction with team members.

Strong communications skills, both written and verbal, including report writing, editing, and proofreading abilities.
