Role description:
We are now recruiting talented individuals in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Noida & Hyderabad to fill our current vacancy for Principal Engineer-Instrumentation, UK Water, to work on our projects in UK.
Role accountabilities:
- Good understanding & Working knowledge of various water and wastewater treatment process and related engineering works - Pumping Stations, waste / water treatment works, etc.
- Provide technical leadership in project delivery, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
- Own project management responsibilities, including resourcing, planning, fee bid preparation, budgeting, and reporting.
- Guide the team through technical decision-making, offering alternative solutions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with Arcadis Business Management System, Health & Safety standards, and CDM regulations.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills in both internal and client-facing interactions.
- Ensure management and financial controls are in place for all assigned projects.
2. Team Management & Mentorship
- Mentor and manage the team, fostering professional growth and ensuring successful project delivery.
- Lead the development of team training plans and contribute to upskilling and capability building.
- Create a supportive environment and ensure effective task delegation within the team.
- Engage in global activities, Task management and lead team members in collaborative efforts.
3. Design & Engineering Responsibilities
- Become fully familiar with the project scope of work, specifications, schedules, and all inter-discipline requirements, including identifying concerns as early as practicable and taking appropriate initiatives to address the issues
- Development of technical solutions and coordinating work with multi-disciplinary teams (Process, Electrical, Civil and Mechanical)
- Contribute to the production and delivery of concise, high-quality technical documentation.
- Sound knowledge of ICA design (instrumentation, PLC and SCADA systems), motor control systems (MCCs), system architecture, fieldbus/communication networks, P&IDs, ATEX installation practice, functional safety, development of control specifications (URS/FDS), schedules and system requirements within process/industrial environment.
- Development of Design Basis, specifications, P&IDs, System/Network Architecture, Fieldbus/communication networks, Control philosophy, Functional Design Specifications, PLC/ICA Section General Arrangements, Wiring and Schematic Diagrams, I/O schedules, Loop Diagrams, Instrument schedules and datasheets.
- Review and provide constructive comment on various ICA documentation including, Control Philosophies, Functional Design Specifications, I/O schedules, instrument schedules, communications architecture drawings and MCC/RTU/PLC electrical schematics and General Arrangements, ensuring they satisfy plant design criteria and comply with asset standard requirements
- Specify instruments, controllers, servers, ancillary equipment, and application software.
- Liaise with other design disciplines to ensure integrated and high-quality design solutions.
- Evaluate and develop alternative control system solutions to meet client requirements.
- Develop and review design methodologies for complex projects through research and innovation.
- Review of vendor drawings for various Instrumentation Control Automation systems.
- Apply broad practical knowledge to design of Layouts Equipment Layouts for outdoor/indoor areas, trench/tray layouts. Guide/provide inputs to BIM/CAD and review from a technical/quality perspective.
- Develop and modify application programming in PLCs, HMIs, SCADA and associated components.
- Assist in defining interface requirements for process valves, adjustable frequency drives, and packaged systems.
- Create documentation for application software and SCADA systems.
- Coordinate SCADA system requirements with all disciplines during the design phase.
- Engage in the creative and innovative development of engineering technology and continuous improvement of systems.
- Understand requirements in relation to installations relating to DSEAR and ICA equipment in explosive atmospheres.
- Knowledge on inspection, testing and commissioning stages relevant to ICA equipment and installations.
- Have an understanding of electrical infrastructure design and their integration with the ICA system
- Knowledge on current UK design standards, working practices and national guidance.
- Ensuring contractors designs comply with the latest client specifications and other relevant industry specifications (Wimes, IET wiring regulations etc.) and legislations.
- Awareness of best practice and standards in cybersecurity for industrial automation and control systems.
4. Client Engagement
- Manage technical client relationships and contribute to project pursuits and proposals.
- Interact with clients to understand their systems and requirements.
- Align with Arcadis digital strategies and actively contribute to digital transformation initiatives.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time.
Qualifications & Experience:
B.E./ M.E. / M. Tech from a recognized University.
14+ years experience.
- Relevant experience in ICA design in a consultancy organisation for Water Sector.
- Familiar with British and other international standards and practices.
- Registered or accredited professional, Preferably CEng/IEng or chartered/ incorporated member of similar standing relevant professional organization or pursuing to achieve.
- Ability to lead complex projects
- Basic knowledge of BIM/ACC tools
- Good knowledge of Microsoft office.
