Job Description

Role & responsibilities

A key position where Responsible for the strategic direction, operational management, and overall performance of the

Instrumentation department within our Ranjitnagar GFL site. This role involves ensuring the reliability, safety, and

efficiency of all plant instrumentation and control systems, leading a team of engineers and technicians, and driving

continuous improvement initiatives.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES.

Develop and implement the overall strategy and objectives for the Instrumentation department,

aligning with the broader organizational goals.

  • Provide leadership and direction to the instrumentation team, including recruitment, training,

performance management, and professional development.

  • Oversee the design, specification, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of all instrumentation

and control systems across the facility.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, codes, regulations, and safety protocols related

to instrumentation.

  • Manage the instrumentation budget effectively, optimizing resource allocation and controlling costs.
  • Drive the implementation of best practices in instrumentation and control, including advanced control

strategies, predictive maintenance, and digitalization initiatives.

  • Lead the development and execution of major instrumentation-related projects, ensuring they are

completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

  • Collaborate closely with other departments (Operations, Maintenance, Projects, IT) to ensure seamless

integration and support of instrumentation systems.

  • Oversee the calibration program and ensure the accuracy and traceability of all critical measurements.
  • Lead root cause analysis investigations for significant instrumentation failures and implement

corrective and preventive actions.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies like WCM or TPM within the

instrumentation function.

  • Act as a key point of contact for senior management on all instrumentation-related matters.
  • Foster a culture of safety, innovation, and teamwork within the instrumentation department.
  • Stay abreast of the latest technological advancements in instrumentation and control and evaluate

their potential application within the organization

Statutory Compliance

Preparing the list of equipments required statutory

approvals.

  • Adhering to the schedules for compliance.
  • Fire and Gas Detection System

Project execution and

co-ordination.

Understanding the project schemes.

  • Ensuring intra-departmental activities are carried out

as per desired schedule.

  • Preparing Factory Acceptance checklist.
  • Inspection of equipments on receipt.
  • Installation and commissioning of the system.
  • Training imparted to Inst and Operation group.

Subordinate

  • Give sufficient guidance to enable engineers groom

themselves to the requirements of the organization

and the requirements of the department.

Establishing, implementing and maintaining of

Integrated Management Systems (Quality, Health

and Environment management systems) in

accordance with the requirements of International

Standards (ISO 9001, ISO-14001 and ISO18001)

Compliance

sustainability and

integrity

  • Ensure all activities under his/her control and

supervision are compliant with all the laws of land

and statutory requirement.

  • Conduct all operation of function, ensuring social

responsibility and accountabilities by following the

company guideline of the same.

  • Be responsible for ethical operation under his

control.

  • Be responsible for prevention, detection and

reporting of bribery and other forms of corruption

including breach of code of conduct and other

company regulation.

  • Avoid all such activity that could lead to or imply

breach of code of conduct, anti-bribery and anticorruption

etc.

Preferred candidate profile

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

BE-Instrumentation and control system. 25 years of Experience in the field of Instrumentation mainly in Refineries,

Petrochemicals , Chemical Plants
