As a Principal Engineer specializing in Doors & Closures, your role involves defining and ensuring conceptual technical solutions for specific requirements or domains. You will guide technical leads or teams in the development process and identify areas within the domain/system for value addition to stakeholders. Reporting to the Technical Specialist/SME, your responsibilities include: - Consulting on customer/stakeholder requirements by conceptualizing technical solutions and conducting comparative studies to propose the best fit - Providing pre-sales/technical support for proposals on solutions/architectures - Representing the organization and contributing to capability building through publications, process improvements, internal training, and design quality assurance - Engaging in personal development by monitoring skill gaps, creating development plans, and conducting technical interviews for candidates up to Lead Engineer level Key Performance Indicators for this role include achieving first-time correctness, producing technical papers, and conducting internal training sessions. Your educational qualifications should include a BE/DME in a relevant engineering stream, coupled with 13+ years of relevant work experience for BE and 15 years for DME. Critical Technical Skill Sets required for this role: - Understanding of stress, strain, direct stress, shear force, bending moment, and related calculations - Experience in Design Validation Planning & Reporting (DVP&R) - Knowledge of Six Sigma philosophy and processes - Familiarity with joining technologies such as welding, riveting, heat staking, adhesive bonding, etc. - Understanding of vehicle manufacturing & assembly processes, as well as vehicle & component tear-down and reporting Critical Behavioral Skill Sets essential for success: - Innovation and entrepreneurial thinking - Commitment to quality excellence - Strong presentation skills and business acumen - Proficiency in problem-solving and market knowledge - Ability to manage customer/supplier relationships effectively Proficiency in English and Hindi is required, with proficiency in Marathi (local language) preferred and knowledge of a foreign language considered an advantage.
