Job Description

The Principal Electrical Engineer plays a crucial role in interpreting internal and external business issues, offering the best practices, and tackling intricate Electrical-related challenges. Operating with minimal guidance, you will independently address problems, potentially leading functional teams or projects as a recognized specialist in the Electrical field. An in-depth expertise in Electrical and broad knowledge of Electrical discipline within Engineering is essential for this role. Your responsibilities include becoming thoroughly acquainted with project scope, specifications, and inter-discipline requirements, identifying concerns early, and taking necessary actions. You will interpret contractual requirements, raise change notifications, interface with various disciplines to develop clash-free designs, and coordinate closely with different engineering disciplines and project teams. It is crucial to document significant communications, prepare estimates for bid proposals, review project schedules, and attend relevant meetings. As the Principal Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical direction, review design reports and procedures, support procurement activities, review vendor and subcontractor submittals, ensure compliance with project specifications, and participate in various project activities such as fabrication, inspection, and commissioning. Additionally, you will supervise and guide engineers, monitor costs, contribute to the maintenance of technical guidelines, and participate in the development of Global Procedures, Software, and Standards. Furthermore, your role may involve participating in standards development committees, providing training to staff, evaluating employee performance, reviewing and approving material lists, specifications, and data sheets, and ensuring the quality of design deliverables. As a Lead Engineer, you will act as a project-based Discipline point of contact, prepare bids and project budgets, assign tasks to the discipline team, monitor KPIs, coordinate with other Discipline leads, and lead the Discipline team during audits and design reviews. Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager or Project Manager on projects and the Discipline Manager functionally, you will collaborate with various stakeholders including engineering disciplines, fabrication groups, safety department, project management team, and more. Essential qualifications for this role include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, along with 18+ years of experience in oil and gas, detailed knowledge of design techniques, and strong project coordination skills.
