Job Description

Purpose/Objective


    The Maintenance Engineer - Cement Mills (Electrical & Automation) (GU) is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of the electrical and automation systems within the cement mill operations. This role encompasses the management of maintenance activities, system upgrades, and troubleshooting efforts to minimize downtime and enhance productivity. The engineer will lead a team to maintain system integrity, comply with safety and regulatory standards, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities of Role


    Cement Mill Operations Management: Oversee the maintenance, optimization, and troubleshooting of both electrical and automation systems specific to cement mills to ensure efficient and uninterrupted production. Develop and implement strategies to enhance the performance and reliability of cement mill electrical and automation systems. Troubleshooting and Fault Diagnosis: Lead the identification and resolution of issues within cement mills, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools for both electrical and automation systems to address and rectify problems effectively. Coordinate with maintenance teams to implement corrective actions and prevent recurring faults. Safety and Compliance: Enforce adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements during all maintenance activities in cement mills. Conduct regular safety audits and ensure compliance with industry standards and legal requirements. System Upgrades and Enhancements: Manage the implementation of upgrades and modifications for cement mills, including the installation of new electrical equipment, control systems, and automation hardware/software. Ensure all upgrades comply with technical specifications and safety standards. Internal Control & Transparency: Implement and monitor internal control systems to ensure accuracy, reliability, and transparency in daily operations. Regularly assess and identify potential risks, recommending and implementing control measures to enhance transparency. Spare Parts and Inventory Management: Manage the inventory of electrical and automation spares for cement mills, ensuring critical components are available while optimizing inventory levels. Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure timely availability of necessary parts for both routine maintenance and emergency repairs. Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor the cement mill electrical and automation team, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities to enhance team performance. Promote a collaborative work environment that encourages innovation, accountability, and proactive problem-solving. Coordination with Production and Maintenance Teams: Align maintenance activities with cement mill production schedules to minimize disruptions and maximize operational efficiency. Coordinate with other maintenance sections to ensure comprehensive support for all cement mill systems. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including diagnostics, repairs, system upgrades, and automation system changes. Prepare and present regular reports, highlighting KPIs, compliance status, and areas for improvement. Support for System Integration and Data Monitoring: Assist in optimizing data flow and control systems to enhance mill efficiency and reduce operational delays. Monitor data from automation systems to identify trends and anomalies, providing reports for further analysis. Qualifications and Experience


    Education Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field. Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance engineering within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the cement industry. Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of cement mill operations and the specific challenges associated with electrical and automation systems in a heavy industrial setting. Familiarity with industry safety standards, electrical codes, and regulatory compliance requirements.
