Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Develop and maintain PLC programs (and possibly HMI/SCADA interfaces) for automation systems in vehicle manufacturing/assembly lines.
Commission new automation lines or equipment: set up PLC logic, configure I/O modules, network communication (e.g., fieldbus, Ethernet), integrate with sensors, actuators, drives and other control hardware.
Troubleshoot automation faults on the production floor (both hardware and software): root-cause failure, debug PLC code, rectify wiring/communication issues, minimize downtime.
Perform preventive maintenance, program changes, optimization of existing systems to improve line uptime, throughput, quality and cost-effectiveness.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams: manufacturing engineering, electrical/control engineering, maintenance, process engineering, vendors/suppliers.
Generate and maintain documentation: PLC logic drawings, I/O lists, network topology, program updates, change logs, test reports.
Ensure safety, compliance and standards in automation: adhere to safety interlocks, emergency stops, machine guarding, standard control practices.
Support vendor selection/qualification, assist in line integration, validation, and hand-over to production.
Possibly train other maintenance/operations staff on automation systems, help build automation knowledge in the plant.
