Job Description

The Piping Stress Analysis Engineer is responsible for performing piping flexibility and stress analysis for onshore/offshore oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery and LNG projects in accordance with project specifications, international codes, and client requirements. The role ensures safe and reliable piping design while coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams and vendors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform

    piping flexibility and stress analysis

    using

    CAESAR II / AutoPIPE

    based on applicable project codes (ASME B31.3, B31.1, B31.4, B31.8, API, NEMA).
  • Develop

    stress critical line list

    , identify critical circuits, and define stress design criteria.
  • Review

    3D piping models

    , support plans, and layouts to evaluate stress compliance.
  • Define

    special piping components

    such as spring hangers, cold settings, expansion joints, anti-vibration supports, and snubbers.
  • Generate

    piping support loads

    and coordinate with civil/structural team for structural & steel design inputs.
  • Prepare

    stress reports, support sketches, load calculations, and stress isometrics

    .
  • Review and approve

    vendor documents

    (valves, pumps, compressors, turbines, static equipment, PSV, etc.) for nozzle allowables and thermal loads.
  • Resolve

    stress-related technical queries, deviations, and field issues

    raised by construction teams.
  • Participate in

    model reviews / HAZOP / design review meetings

    and interact with client/PMC representatives.
  • Provide

    construction and site assistance

    , including support selection and punch-list resolution.
  • Ensure full compliance with

    project specifications, international standards, and QA/QC requirements

    .

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong working knowledge of

    CAESAR II

    (AutoPIPE / ROHR2 optional).
  • Familiar with

    SP3D / E3D / PDS / Navisworks

    for model interpretation and mark-ups.
  • Sound understanding of:
  • Piping flexibility principles
  • Nozzle load evaluation
  • Static & dynamic load cases (thermal, slug, PSV loads, seismic, wind, vibration, water hammer)
  • ASME, API, NEMA, WRC & client specifications
  • Experience in

    high-temperature piping, rotating equipment piping, two-phase flow lines, cryogenic service

    (preferred).
  • Knowledge of

    pipe support engineering, metallurgy, and material specifications

    is an added advantage.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical / Chemical Engineering (Master's preferred but not mandatory).
  • 1116 years of experience

    in EPC / PMC projects for Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, Offshore / FPSO / LNG.
  • Previous experience with

    Oil and Gas

    preferred.
