Physiotherapy Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION – PHYSIOTHERAPY ASSISTANTPosition Summary

The Physiotherapy Assistant supports licensed Physiotherapists in delivering safe and effective rehabilitation services to patients. The role involves assisting with assessments, carrying out prescribed treatment plans, maintaining equipment, ensuring patient safety, and supporting administrative tasks of the department.

Key Responsibilities

A. Clinical Assistance

- Assist Physiotherapists in implementing treatment plans for in-patients and out-patients.
- Guide patients during exercises and mobility training under supervision.- Prepare therapy areas and equipment before sessions.- Apply hot/cold packs, TENS, ultrasound, and other modalities as instructed.- Support in gait training, balance exercises, muscle strengthening, and ROM exercises.- Monitor patient response during therapy and report observations to the Physiotherapist.

B. Patient Care & Safety

- Help patients with positioning, transfers, and ambulation.
- Educate patients and attendants on basic exercises and home-care instructions as guided.- Maintain patient comfort, privacy, and dignity.- Adhere to safety protocols and infection control standards.

C. Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain registers, treatment logs, and daily therapy records.
- Ensure accurate documentation of exercises performed, patient progress, and therapy attendance.- Assist in preparing departmental reports.

D. Equipment Management

- Clean, disinfect, and store therapy equipment as per protocol.
- Report malfunctioning equipment immediately.- Ensure therapeutic consumables and materials are adequately stocked.

E. Administrative Support

- Schedule patient therapy sessions as instructed.
- Assist in patient flow management within the department.- Support physiotherapists in departmental audits and NABH documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:
- Diploma in Physiotherapy (DPT) or Certificate Course in Physiotherapy Assistance.

Experience:
- 0–2 years of experience in a hospital or physiotherapy centre preferred.

Skills:
- Good communication skills- Knowledge of basic physiotherapy techniques and equipment- Ability to follow instructions accurately- Patient-friendly and empathetic approach

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹8,000.00 - ₹10,000.00 per month
