The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) invites applications for a full-time, four-year PhD position in the area of Geodesy and Satellite Radar Interferometry (InSAR). This research will focus on advancing InSAR methodologies to achieve millimeter-level precision in surface deformation measurements, thereby enhancing our understanding of both natural and human-induced processes such as subsidence, seismic activity, and infrastructure stability.

Key Responsibilities

– Develop and refine InSAR techniques for monitoring surface deformation.
– Analyze extensive satellite datasets from missions including Sentinel-1 and NISAR.– Integrate geodetic, physical, and mathematical models to interpret InSAR data.– Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team specializing in geodesy, remote sensing, and geophysics.– Disseminate research findings through peer-reviewed publications and international conferences.

Requirements

– MSc degree in Geodesy, (Geo)Physics, Mathematics, or a closely related discipline.
– Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a solid background in physical modeling and/or signal processing.– Demonstrated academic writing ability and effective communication skills.– Self-motivated, creative, and curious, with a keen interest in Earth observation and scientific research.– Programming experience in Python is advantageous.
