Job Description

A Pharmacy Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting pharmacists and ensuring that the pharmacy operates smoothly and efficiently. You will be responsible for assisting with the preparation and dispensing of medications, managing customer transactions, and maintaining an organized and clean work environment. Providing valuable customer service by helping customers find the products they need and answering any questions they may have regarding prescriptions or over-the-counter medications is a key aspect of your role. Strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced setting are essential. By working closely with pharmacists, you will ensure that patients receive their medications promptly and safely, contributing significantly to the healthcare team. Your responsibilities will include assisting pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications to ensure accuracy and efficiency, organizing and maintaining the pharmacy inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained, labeling and packaging prescribed medications accurately following all legal and safety guidelines, providing excellent customer service, conducting routine checks of prescription and OTC products for expiry and storage conditions, ensuring the pharmacy is clean, organized, and complies with health and safety regulations, updating patient profiles on the system accurately, assisting in handling and resolving customer complaints professionally and efficiently, contributing to the promotion of pharmacy services and health care awareness in the community, performing administrative tasks as needed, including filing and maintaining records accurately, and supporting pharmacy staff through effective teamwork and communication of needs and issues. To be successful in this role, you should have a high school diploma or equivalent; additional pharmacy training or certification is a plus. Previous experience in a pharmacy or retail environment is highly desirable. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities are required. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential to interact with customers and staff. You should be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks. Basic computer skills for handling pharmacy software and managing patient databases are necessary, and an understanding of medical terminology and prescription processing is advantageous.,
