Job Description

Dispensing Medication: Accurately and safely preparing and dispensing prescription medications as prescribed by physicians and other healthcare providers. This includes verifying the prescription for correct dosage, patient information, and drug appropriateness.
Patient Counseling and Education: Providing patients with clear and concise information about their medications, including proper use, potential side effects, drug interactions, and storage instructions. They also answer patient questions and provide advice on over-the-counter remedies and general health topics.
Drug Therapy Management: Reviewing patient medication histories to identify and prevent potential drug interactions, allergies, or other safety concerns. They may also work with physicians to adjust dosages or recommend alternative medications to optimize patient health.
Collaboration with Healthcare Professionals: Acting as a medication expert on the healthcare team. Pharmacists communicate with doctors, nurses, and other professionals to clarify prescriptions, provide drug information, and ensure coordinated patient care.
Inventory and Operations Management: Maintaining and organizing the pharmacy's inventory of medications and supplies. This includes ordering stock, controlling controlled substances, and ensuring the secure and safe storage of all pharmaceuticals.
Compliance and Safety: Adhering to all state and federal laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines governing pharmaceutical practice. They are responsible for ensuring a clean and safe working environment and maintaining accurate patient and medication records.
Vaccinations and Health Screenings: In many settings, pharmacists are authorized to administer immunizations (e.g., flu shots) and provide health screenings for conditions like blood pressure or diabetes.
Continuous Learning: Staying up-to-date with new drugs, treatments, and medical advancements by attending professional conferences, seminars, and training sessions.
