Job Description

The PGT Political Science teacher is responsible for teaching senior secondary students the fundamental and advanced concepts of political theory, Indian constitution, comparative politics, international relations, and public administration. The role includes designing lesson plans, conducting assessments, preparing students for board exams, and encouraging analytical and civic understanding.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Instruction

  • Teach Political Science as per CBSE/ICSE/State Board curriculum for Classes XI and XII.
  • Explain topics such as political theory, democracy, rights, Indian Constitution, electoral politics, governance, international relations, and global issues.
  • Use case studies, debates, simulations, and current affairs to enhance classroom learning.
  • Prepare students for board examinations and competitive exams.
  • Guide students on answering techniques, analytical writing, and source-based questions.

Curriculum & Planning

  • Create annual teaching plans (ATP) and detailed lesson plans.
  • Develop worksheets, assignments, projects, and presentations.
  • Integrate NEP 2020 guidelines, experiential learning, and art-integrated activities.
  • Ensure timely syllabus completion.

Assessment & Evaluation

  • Conduct regular tests, class assessments, and mock exams.
  • Evaluate answer sheets, maintain student performance records, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Prepare students for practical components like project work (if applicable).

Student Development

  • Encourage discussions, model parliament sessions, and research activities.
  • Support students in participating in debates, quizzes, MUNs, and humanities competitions.
  • Promote critical thinking, civic awareness, and informed reasoning.

Administrative & Communication Duties

  • Maintain attendance and academic documentation.
  • Participate in staff meetings, workshops, and professional development programs.
  • Communicate effectively with parents about student progress.
  • Support school events, functions, and examination duties.

Skills & QualificationsRequired

  • Master’s degree in Political Science.
  • B.Ed with specialization in Social Science/Humanities (as per school board requirements).
  • Strong subject knowledge in political theory, Indian government, and international relations.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to integrate current affairs into teaching.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching senior secondary classes.
  • Knowledge of CBSE/ICSE evaluation patterns and question formats.
  • Familiarity with digital teaching tools (smart boards, Google Classroom, PPTs).
  • Ability to conduct interdisciplinary projects.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
