History

The school was established in 1992 in the village of Bali, Rajasthan by William and John Bissell who recognized the need for a model school to empower young people in rural Rajasthan where literacy rates were extremely low, especially among women. After completing his studies in 1988, William Bissell lived for several years in Jodhpur, Rajasthan where he worked with rural artisans and various crafts co-operatives across the state. This formative experience strongly impacted his views on the critical role of education and the lack of high quality, affordable education in rural areas. William was passionate about creative approaches to education which brought out each child's inherent talents and the need to include environmental education in a local context. With input from many creative talents over the years, the school has become a model for preparing its students for success in life while contributing to the local community.


Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a PGT English Teacher located in Pali. The PGT English Teacher will be responsible for creating lesson plans, teaching English literature and language to higher secondary students, and assessing and evaluating student progress. Additional responsibilities include engaging in classroom management, preparing students for examinations, and participating in school activities and community engagements.

Essential Qualification & Experience

A Master’s degree in English (M.A.) is mandatory, along with a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)

Minimum 7+ years of experience teaching English at the senior secondary level in a reputed educational institution.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a robust and enriching English curriculum aligned with CBSE senior secondary standards, focusing on literature, grammar, comprehension, and writing.
  • Develop students' analytical, interpretive, and communication skills through critical engagement with prose, poetry, and drama.
  • Encourage creative expression, academic writing, and public speaking through classroom discussions, projects, and literary activities.
  • Assess student progress through a variety of tools and provide meaningful feedback to aid improvement.
  • Support students in preparing for board examinations and academic competitions.
  • Cultivate a classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, debate, empathy, and language mastery.
  • Participate in school programs, literary events, parent-teacher meetings, and continued professional growth initiatives.
