Job Description

As a Patent Specialist, your role involves managing patent drafting, filing, research, and compliance to ensure effective protection of the company's intellectual property. You will be guiding teams on patentability and coordinating with legal authorities. Key Responsibilities: - Patent Drafting & Filing - Draft high-quality patent applications (provisional and complete). - Prepare necessary documentation for patent filing in India and international jurisdictions. - Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and R&D teams to grasp innovations. - Patent Search & Analysis - Conduct prior art searches, freedom-to-operate searches, and patentability assessments. - Analyze technical documents to evaluate novelty, inventive steps, and claim strategy. - Utilize patent databases like WIPO, USPTO, Google Patents, EPO, etc. - Patent Prosecution - Manage communication with patent offices and examiners. - Address examination reports, office actions, and legal queries in a timely manner. - Track deadlines to ensure timely filings and renewals. - IP Strategy & Compliance - Offer advice on IP protection strategies for new products and technologies. - Maintain and update patent portfolios, legal records, and compliance documents. - Conduct training sessions to increase IP awareness and understanding of patent processes. - Cross-Functional Coordination - Collaborate with legal, R&D, management, and external law firms. - Assist in managing IP disputes, infringement checks, and documentation support. Required Skills & Qualifications: - Minimum 5 years of experience in patents or IP management. - Strong knowledge of Indian Patent Law, PCT procedures, and global IP regulations. - Proficiency in patent searches and utilizing patent databases. - Excellent drafting, analytical, and documentation skills. - Ability to comprehend technical concepts and translate them into legal claims. - Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. - Preferred: IP certification or Patent Agent qualification. Education: - Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering, Science, Biotechnology, Law, or related fields. - Patent Agent qualification (optional but preferred). Salary: As per company norms and commensurate with experience.
