Optical Network Deployment Engineer Backbone Network Capacity

About the Role:

Optical Network Deployment Engineer

DWDM, routing/switching, and optical technologies (Ciena/Infinera)

Key Responsibilities

Configure, build, and test new
DWDM line systems
including calibration, verification, and BERT testing.
Deploy and commission
optical devices
such as
Ciena
and
Infinera
in new PoPs and data center builds.
Perform
device installation, software upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning
tasks.
Support
network optimization
(re-stripes, migrations, capacity upgrades, swaps).
Create
Bill of Materials (BoM)
and
Job Start Notifications (JSN)
for deployments.
Collaborate cross-functionally to develop documentation and production workflows.
Troubleshoot and analyze network issues; identify and resolve root causes.
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure continuous process improvement.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong experience with
Ciena 6500
systems (mandatory).
Knowledge of
DWDM components
ROADM, Mux/Demux, amplifiers, transponders, and channel optimization.
Hands-on experience with
optical device migrations
in data centers or PoPs.
Ciena and/or Infinera certifications
highly desirable.
Excellent knowledge of
TCP/IP
,
OSPF
,
BGP
, and
MPLS
.
Familiarity with
Chassis and line card installations, structured fiber cabling
, and optical testing tools.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
CCNA / JNCIA
or equivalent certification preferred.
Proven ability to work in fast-paced, collaborative environments with attention to detail.
