About The Team

Customer Payments Accounting team (CPA) is to ensure accurate financial reporting on a regular basis. They continuously assess the reporting process to find any inefficiencies and make improvements. Additionally, they ensure that all financial reports adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and other relevant regulations. The team also regularly reviews and updates its policies and procedures, staying informed about changes to accounting standards and regulations.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Operations Manager to lead and optimize the performance of our Accounting Team. The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, and implementing efficient workflows to support the financial health of our business. This role requires a balance of strategic thinking, leadership, and hands-on problem-solving to drive process improvements and support our overall business objectives.The Manager will lead and manage a team responsible for the accurate and timely reconciliation and reporting of key revenue streams, including gift cards, online orders, and daily sales activity across retail channels. This role ensures end-to-end accounting operations are streamlined, efficient, and compliant with internal policies and external regulations. The Operations Manager will work cross-functionally with Finance, IT, and Business Operations to drive process improvements, maintain system integrity, and support strategic initiatives related to revenue assurance. This position requires a strong background in accounting, retail operations, and data analytics, coupled with a proactive approach to problem-solving and team development.

Roles & Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities:

Summary

The Manager in Lowe's CPA, plays a key role in ensuring timely corrections of transactions related to Gift Cards, Online Orders and Daily Summary along with assisting our stores on with Accounting resolutions and accurately, ensuring accurate and timely month-end accruals closes, and maintaining financial reporting compliance with US GAAP. Key responsibilities include:
  • Leadership & Team Management:
    • Lead, coach, and develop a team of accountants and financial analysts in day-to-day operations.
    • Establish clear performance expectations, provide feedback, and support career development for team members.
    • Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performance culture.
  • Accounting Operations Oversight:
    • Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
    • Ensure accurate and timely financial closing processes for all locations.
    • Maintain proper internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS).
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
    • Review and approve financial statements, reports, and reconciliations for retail locations.
    • Monitor key performance metrics and provide insights to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.
    • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate budget forecasts, cash flow management, and variance analysis.
  • Process Improvement & Automation:
    • Identify inefficiencies in current accounting and operational processes and implement best practices for continuous improvement.
    • Collaborate with IT and external vendors to automate and streamline accounting processes, ensuring optimal system usage.
    • Oversee the implementation of new accounting software or tools to enhance productivity.
  • Accounting Support:
    • Support the retail business by providing insights and guidance on accounting matters related to sales transactions, inventory management, vendor contracts, and store operations.
    • Work closely with retail managers and store leadership to ensure proper financial controls at each location.
  • Compliance & Risk Management:
    • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, audit requirements, and other legal obligations related to retail operations.
    • Prepare for and support internal and external audits, ensuring that all necessary documentation is in place.
    • Monitor and mitigate financial risks by conducting regular audits and reviews of retail accounting practices.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Compliance: Collaborate with business partners to align on new transactions, perform ongoing process reviews, and ensure compliance with SOX controls.
In essence, the role combines technical accounting expertise, leadership, strategic process improvement, and collaboration across functions to ensure financial accuracy and operational efficiency.

Required

Years of Experience:

  • 9-12 Years a minimum of overall combined experience in accounting (industry or public)
  • 4-6 years accounting experience in large ERP environment (Oracle and/or PeopleSoft preferred)

Preferred

  • Experience in implementation of Controls and monitoring as per SOX requirements.
  • Experience with process improvements/system enhancements/automation related to accounting functions.
  • Experience in preparing and/or analytical review of the reports to tell the story to the management.
  • Experience in managing stakeholders and implementation or leading any finance projects for the organization.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA, CMA, or other relevant certification is an advantage

Skill Set Required

Primary Skills (must have)

  • Experience: Minimum 10+ years of experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Oracle, PeopleSoft, or SAP), advanced Excel skills, and familiarity with financial reporting systems.
  • Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines and continuous mentality
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of retail operations, including POS systems, inventory management, and store profitability analysis.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making and process optimization.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
