Operation & Maintenance Engineer - Water Distribution Project - Kochi

Role & responsibilities

• Operation & maintenance of pumping and boosting pumping stations.
• Installation, testing, and commissioning of pumps, motors, valves, and mechanical equipment.
• Monitoring and optimizing pump performance (flow rate, head, efficiency, energy consumption).
• Preparing, planning, and executing preventive & predictive maintenance schedules.
• Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving mechanical failures with minimum downtime.
• Supervising alignment, balancing, lubrication, and overhauling of pumps and motors.
• Ensuring proper functioning of piping systems, valves, and associated auxiliaries.
• Preparing maintenance records, daily logbooks, and performance monitoring reports.
• Maintain a daily log of visits. Monitor and control reservoir levels according to the operational requirements.
• Implementing energy conservation and efficiency improvement measures.
• Coordinating with electrical, instrumentation and SCADA teams for smooth O&M.
• Inventory monitoring & timely requisition of new spares.
• Ensuring compliance with safety norms, statutory guidelines, and SOPs.
• Supporting audits, inspections, and ISO/quality documentation.
• Training and mentoring subordinates on O&M best practices.
• Managing the team of operators/Technicians to attend breakdown/shutdown/emergencies at various locations based on requirement along with preventive maintenance.
• Keep Reporting Manager informed on the day to day activities.
• Water Demand preparation based on historic / assumptions.

Preferred candidate profile

• Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of centrifugal pumps, booster systems, valves, piping layouts, and auxiliaries.
• Operation & Maintenance Skills: Strong experience in preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of pumps and mechanical systems.
• Troubleshooting Ability: Capability to diagnose and resolve mechanical failures quickly to minimize downtime.
• Performance Monitoring: Skilled in monitoring pump efficiency, vibration, alignment, lubrication, and energy consumption.
• Project Execution: Experience in installation, testing, and commissioning of pumping equipment.
