Oncology Nurse

As an Oncology Nurse at Manipal Hospitals, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing treatment for cancer. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans, monitor patient progress, and provide emotional support to patients and their families. Your primary duties will include administering chemotherapy and other medications, managing side effects, performing assessments, and educating patients about their treatment options and self-care strategies.
 

Key Responsibilities:
- Administer chemotherapy and other infusion therapies in accordance with established protocols. - Monitor patients for any adverse reactions to treatments and provide appropriate interventions. - Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ physical and emotional needs. - Collaborate with oncologists and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care plans. - Provide education to patients and families regarding cancer treatment, side effects, and coping strategies. - Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with hospital policies and regulations. - Participate in patient and family counseling to address concerns and promote adherence to treatment plans. - Stay informed on the latest developments in oncology nursing through continuous education and participation in professional organizations. Skills and Tools Required: - Valid nursing license and specialized training in oncology nursing. - Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction. - Ability to handle complex patient scenarios and provide compassionate support. - Proficient in the use of electronic health record (EHR) systems and computerized documentation. - Knowledge of chemotherapy protocols and side effects management. - Familiarity with oncology nursing principles and best practices. - Certification in chemotherapy administration or oncology nursing (preferred).
