Job Title: Nursing In-Charge

Department: Nursing / Clinical Services

Reports To: Nursing Superintendent / Matron / Hospital Administrator

Job Summary

The Nursing In-Charge is responsible for supervising and coordinating the nursing staff and activities within a hospital unit, ward, or department. They ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care, adherence to hospital policies, and compliance with nursing standards and protocols. The role involves clinical leadership, staff management, and administrative responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities1. Patient Care Management

  • Oversee and ensure the delivery of safe, compassionate, and effective patient care.
  • Monitor patient conditions and coordinate with doctors and healthcare teams for treatment plans.
  • Ensure timely assessment, documentation, and reporting of patient status.
  • Maintain infection control and safety standards.

2. Staff Supervision and Coordination

  • Supervise, guide, and support nursing and support staff in the ward/unit.
  • Prepare and manage staff duty rosters and leave schedules.
  • Identify training needs and facilitate professional development.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.

3. Administrative Duties

  • Maintain accurate patient records, reports, and inventory of medicines, equipment, and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with other departments for patient transfers, admissions, and discharges.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly nursing activity reports.

4. Quality and Safety

  • Implement and monitor quality assurance and patient safety protocols.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and accreditation processes.
  • Report and manage incidents, errors, and complaints appropriately.
  • Promote continuous improvement in nursing practices.

5. Communication and Coordination

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between nursing staff and management.
  • Conduct regular ward meetings and briefings.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: B.Sc. Nursing / GNM Diploma (Registered Nurse)
  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of clinical experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Licensure: Valid Nursing Registration with the State Nursing Council.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Sound clinical knowledge and decision-making ability.
  • Proficiency in hospital information systems and record-keeping.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
