NPD Sourcing Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Collaborate with NPD and design engineering teams to understand component and material requirements.
• Identify and develop new suppliers for mechanical / electrical components, ensuring alignment with cost, quality, and delivery targets.
• Conduct RFQ (Request for Quotation), cost analysis, and price negotiations for new components.
• Evaluate supplier capabilities through audits, technical assessments, and qualification processes.
• Support prototype and pilot builds by ensuring timely availability of sourced parts.
• Manage supplier development activities to improve quality and reduce lead time.
• Work with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Procurement) to ensure smooth transition from prototype to mass production.
• Maintain and update sourcing databases and supplier records.
• Monitor industry trends and new technologies to support innovation and cost optimization.
• Ensure compliance with company standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors Degree in

  Mechanical Engineering

  or

  Electrical Engineering

  (or equivalent).

• 3–5 years of experience

  in sourcing, supplier development, or supply chain in a manufacturing / engineering environment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical or electrical components, fabrication, machining, plastics, or electronics manufacturing processes.
• Experience in RFQ, cost breakdown, and negotiation.
• Knowledge of lithium-ion cell & battery technology will be considered an added advantage.
• Familiarity with quality tools (PPAP, APQP, FMEA, etc.) is an added advantage.
• Good communication, vendor management, and project coordination skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office; experience with ERP systems (e.g., IcSoft ERP, SAP ERP or Oracle E-Business Suite) is desirable.
