The NICU Nurse will provide specialized nursing care to critically ill or premature newborns, supporting their medical needs and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. This role involves collaborating with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans, monitoring patient progress, administering medications, and providing support and education to families. Key Responsibilities: - Assess and monitor the health status of newborns in the NICU. - Provide nursing care for critically ill infants, including those on ventilators and other life-support systems. - Administer medications, blood products, and intravenous therapy as prescribed. - Collaborate with neonatologists and other healthcare professionals in developing care plans. - Educate parents on their infant’s condition, care procedures, and necessary follow-up. - Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting changes in condition and care provided. - Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and progression. - Uphold infection control protocols and maintain a sterile environment. - Provide emotional support and counseling to families during challenging times. Skills and Tools Required: - Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent. - Valid nursing license in the state of practice. - Previous experience in neonatal intensive care or pediatrics preferred. - Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and families. - Knowledge of neonatal pharmacology and equipment used in NICU settings. - Ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment. - Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and computer skills. - Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Basic Life Support (BLS). - Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is an advantage.
