Job Summary:
We are seeking a Routing and Switching Engineer (L1) to join our dynamic network team. This entry-level position offers an exciting opportunity to work with experienced engineers and develop your skills in routing, switching, and network troubleshooting. You will be responsible for assisting in the configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of network devices, ensuring smooth operations of network infrastructure, and providing support to senior engineers in day-to-day tasks.
Key Responsibilities:

Network Monitoring & Maintenance:
- Monitor network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls for performance and connectivity.
- Assist in basic troubleshooting of network issues, including connectivity problems, hardware faults, and performance degradation.
Device Configuration:
- Assist in configuring and deploying routing and switching devices Cisco.
- Assist senior network engineers with the setup of VLANs, IP addressing, routing protocols (RIP, OSPF, EIGRP), and static routes.
- Apply basic changes in network configurations based on defined network requirements.
Support & Troubleshooting:
- Troubleshot network connectivity issues (Layer 2 and Layer 3).
- Work closely with senior engineers to identify and resolve hardware and software issues in network devices.
- Assist in diagnosing and resolving issues with cabling, switches, and routers.
Documentation:
- Maintain network documentation and ensure all configurations are properly documented.
- Assist with creating standard operating procedures (SOPs) for common network issues.
Backup & Recovery:
- Support regular backup of network device configurations and ensure recovery plans are in place.
Software Updates & Patches:
- Assist in the regular updating of network devices with firmware patches and software updates under supervision.

Skills & Qualifications:

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Certifications (Preferred but not required):
- CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) or equivalent entry-level networking certifications.
Technical Skills:
- Understanding of basic networking concepts (OSI model, IP addressing, subnetting).
- Familiarity with Layer 2 and Layer 3 devices (e.g., switches, routers).
- Basic knowledge of routing protocols (RIP, OSPF, EIGRP).
- Familiarity with network troubleshooting tools (ping, traceroute, etc.).
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and grow in the field of network engineering.

Desirable Attributes:

Familiarity with networking hardware from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, or similar.
Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds/ Service now)
Understanding of network Routing and Security basics (firewalls, ACLs, VPNs, routing protocols and switching).
Basic knowledge of wireless networking technologies.
