Rapid7's AI Center of Excellence is seeking a Principal AI Engineer - MLOps to join our expanding team. We leverage AI/ML to enhance customer security and threat detection, working with technologies like AWS, EKS, Terraform, Python (numpy, pandas), Jupyter, and Sci-kit learn. This role is ideal for an experienced AI Engineer with a strong background in applied AI R&D, software engineering, and MLOps/DevOps. You'll be responsible for taking AI models from R&D to production, ensuring repeatable deployment, monitoring, and observability. Key Responsibilities: Architect and manage end-to-end ML production systems (scoping, data, modeling, deployment). Develop and maintain data pipelines, managing data lifecycle and quality. Implement ML guardrails and manage service monitoring. Develop and deploy accessible endpoints (web apps, REST APIs) with a focus on data privacy and security. Share expertise, mentor junior engineers, and foster collaboration. Embrace agile development practices for continuous iteration and problem-solving. Required Skills & Experience: 15+ years as a Software Engineer, with 3-5 years focused on ML deployment (especially AWS). Software Engineering: Strong Python, developing APIs with Flask or FastAPI. DevOps & MLOps: Designing and integrating scalable AI/ML systems into production, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, cloud AI resource management. Pipelines, Monitoring, Observability: Data pre-processing, feature engineering, model monitoring, and evaluation. Growth mindset, strong communication skills, and proven ability to collaborate across teams. Track record of mentoring junior engineers. Advantageous Experience: Understanding of AI and ML operational frameworks and limitations. Deploying resources for LLM fine-tuning and experimentation. Implementing model risk management strategies (registries, drift monitoring, hyperparameter tuning).
