Job Description

As a Lead Behavioral Counsellor at Vidyashilp Academy in Bangalore, you will play a vital role in overseeing and enhancing the behavioral counselling services offered to students. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring that students receive timely and effective support for behavioral, emotional, and social challenges, creating a supportive school environment. Your responsibilities will include leading and managing the school's behavioral counselling program, supervising and supporting a team of counsellors and interns, and developing school-wide behavioral support policies. You will also conduct assessments, provide individual/group counselling, and design Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) in collaboration with staff and parents. During crisis situations, you will support students and assist in conflict resolution while collaborating with teachers, special educators, and staff to identify students in need of support. Additionally, you will engage with parents and external mental health professionals as necessary, lead case conferences for complex student cases, and conduct workshops for students, staff, and parents. Monitoring the impact of interventions and staying updated with the latest practices in child psychology and education will be essential aspects of your role. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential records of sessions and interventions, generating reports for school leadership on behavioral health, and ensuring compliance with ethical standards and legal guidelines. The qualifications required for this role include a PhD/Masters degree in Psychology, Counselling, or a related field, a valid counselling certification or license, at least 5 years of experience in school counselling with leadership exposure, and proven expertise in addressing ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, and related concerns. To excel in this role, you should possess strong empathy and team management skills, in-depth knowledge of child and adolescent behavioral health, high emotional intelligence, and discretion. Strong communication and conflict-resolution abilities, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams are key competencies that will contribute to your success in this position.
