Job Title: Mechanical Technician
Utilities Department (Tyre Manufacturing)
Role Purpose:
To support the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of plant utilities systems crucial for the tyre manufacturing process, ensuring their reliable, efficient, and safe performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate, inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment related to plant utilities including pumps, motors, compressors, chillers, cooling towers, and piping systems.
Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance of utilities systems to avoid disruption in tyre manufacturing operations.
Monitor and adjust utility system parameters like pressure, flow, temperature, and ensure optimal functioning.
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues across utilities equipment including centrifugal pumps, booster pumps, mono block pumps, and refrigeration cycle components.
Maintain water treatment quality and chemical dosing for cooling towers and boilers as applicable.
Assist in installation, commissioning, and upgrades of utilities equipment.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, breakdown reports, and daily logs.
Coordinate with production, maintenance, and safety teams to ensure smooth utilities operation.
Adhere strictly to safety guidelines, LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) and permit-to-work procedures.
Skills & Core Competencies:
Proficient in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems in industrial utilities.
Knowledge in operation and maintenance of industrial motors, pumps, chillers, and cooling tower equipment.
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.
Familiar with welding and pipe fitting techniques (preferred).
Strong problem-solving aptitude and ability to work independently and under pressure.
Safety-conscious and disciplined with good communication and teamwork skills.
Requirements:
Diploma/ITI/BE in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
2–5 years of experience in industrial utilities operation and maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Exposure to refrigeration cycles, cooling tower operations, and pump maintenance.
Basic welding and pipe-fitting skills would be advantageous.
