Job Description

As the Engineering Manager of NPD Mechanical at Emerson, you will provide leadership, direction, and oversight for New Product Development (NPD) projects focused on Flow Control Instruments. Your main responsibilities include: - Planning, coordinating, and directing activities within project teams to ensure project progress and completion. - Leading, guiding, mentoring, and supporting a team of mechanical engineers involved in the design and development of Flow Control Instruments. - Participating in end-to-end design and development of new Instruments, including concept generation, prototyping, and validation. - Translating customer requirements into functional product specifications and selecting appropriate methodologies for optimal instrument performance. - Developing and executing test plans for functional, environmental, and reliability testing of positioners. - Providing technical direction and mentorship to engineers involved in NPD projects and cross-functional teams. - Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. - Collaborating cross-functionally with various departments to define and deliver new products that meet business goals. - Creating and maintaining detailed design documentation, including CAD models, schematics, BOMs, and technical reports. - Providing technical support during pilot production, field trials, and post-launch activities. - Managing project timelines, ensuring quality deliverables, and focusing on First Time Right efforts. - Leading project teams in identifying and mitigating project risks. - Staying updated on industry trends and advancements in mechanical design. - Actively seeking efficiency gains and process improvement opportunities. You are process-oriented, quality-focused, and continuously seek opportunities to improve both product and process. Your ability to lead, guide, and inspire engineering teams makes you a key contributor to the success of new product initiatives. Qualifications required for this role: - Fundamental knowledge of instruments, industry standards, NPD Phase-Gate process, mechanical engineering principles, and business operations systems. - Knowledge of Emerson NPD processes is a plus. - Demonstrated organizational, planning, and collaboration skills. - Bachelor's / Masters Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, or equivalent). - 10+ years of engineering experience in designing and developing new products. - Experience collaborating with global / remote team members. - Proven ability to lead projects/teams effectively.
