Mechanical Engineer - (Plastic Packaging FMCG) Mould Development Lead

Key Responsibilities

Mould Development & Project Leadership

• Lead end-to-end mould development projects for plastic packaging components
• Define mould specifications based on product design and manufacturing requirements
• Coordinate with internal design, R&D, and production teams for on-time mould readiness
• Manage external toolmakers and vendors for mould manufacturing and trials

Mould Performance & Optimization

• Troubleshoot mould-related issues during trials and mass production
• Optimize mould performance for cycle time, productivity, and quality
• Conduct regular mould health checks for running moulds
• Implement corrective and preventive actions to extend mould life

Costing & Commercial Evaluation

• Prepare detailed mould costing and feasibility analysis
• Perform part costing based on cycle time, material usage, and tooling efficiency
• Support management with cost optimization and value engineering inputs

Quality, Documentation & Compliance

• Ensure moulds meet quality standards, specifications, and production requirements
• Maintain technical documentation, process sheets, and improvement records
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in mould development processes

Process Knowledge

• Apply strong understanding of RPT (Rapid Prototyping Tooling) processes
• Support new product development through prototype and pilot tooling

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Experience:

  10–12 years in mould development for plastic packaging (FMCG preferred)

• Education:

  Diploma / BE / BTech in Mechanical, Tool Engineering, or related discipline
• Strong understanding of injection mould design, manufacturing, and validation
• Hands-on experience in mould troubleshooting, optimization, and lifecycle management
• Experience working with high-volume production moulds
• Proficiency in
