Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and ensuring the smooth functioning of construction plant, machinery, and equipment used in road and irrigation projects. The role involves preventive and corrective maintenance, deployment planning, and ensuring optimum utilization of assets to support project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plant & Machinery Management
  • Oversee operation, maintenance, and repair of heavy construction equipment (e.g., excavators, dozers, graders, batching plants, hot mix plants, crushers, concrete pumps, etc.).
  • Plan and schedule preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor equipment performance, fuel consumption, and efficiency.
  • Project Support
  • Ensure availability of required machinery at road and irrigation project sites.
  • Coordinate with site teams for mobilization/demobilization of equipment.
  • Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintenance & Safety
  • Implement maintenance systems, checklists, and safety procedures.
  • Ensure availability of critical spares and consumables.
  • Maintain proper records of repairs, overhauls, and inspections.
  • Vendor & Team Coordination
  • Liaise with OEMs, suppliers, and contractors for service, repair, and spare parts procurement.
  • Supervise mechanical staff, operators, and fitters at project sites.
  • Train site staff on safe handling and maintenance practices.
  • Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain logbooks, service records, and breakdown reports.
  • Prepare MIS reports on equipment utilization, downtime, and maintenance cost.
  • Support audits and compliance with statutory requirements.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of construction equipment and heavy machinery.
  • Expertise in preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic systems, engines, and fabrication.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical failures under site conditions.
  • Good planning, coordination, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD (preferred), and maintenance management systems.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 8–15 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within road and irrigation projects.
  • Hands-on experience in handling large-scale infrastructure project equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month
