Executive - Process Engineering (Technology Transfer) Level: Executive / Sr Executives Qualification: BE/ B.Tech in Chemical engineering Experience: In API/ Agro Chemicals/ Crop Protection Industry 3 years minimum to 6 years in Process Engineering role. Take assigned project of molecule from the Initial stage to understand & optimize the process from scalability perspective. Provide engineering inputs with respect to unit operations involved in the process to facilitate seamless scale-up and transfer to plant. Observe critical process steps in the laboratory & evaluate related plant aspects. Ensure Process Safety compliance for all new processes from R & D Review and verify relevant process engineering calculations for scale-up of unit operations. Prepare / Review mapping, material and energy balance for the process. Prepare / Review basic engineering and technology package for the process Interact with the cross functional teams in plant for effective scale-up and technology transfer. Oversee execution of pilot, engineering, and validation batches for the product & ownership of the technology transfer process Review technology transfer report and ensure smooth handover of the process to plant technical team SKILLS: Hands-on with ASPEN HYSYS and other tools / softwares used in Process Engineering Simulation studies. Job Requirements Have basic understanding of P&ID and is able to read heat and mass balance diagrams. Has basic understanding in pre treatment, filtration and post treatment Review P&IDs and provide mark ups per project specification and mass balance diagram. Mark up P&IDs customer tagging or international tagging requirements, ex. KKS tagging Fully understand the requirement and impact of heat & mass balance diagram and interpret on P&ID line flows. Perform sanity checks of P&IDs w.r.t. pressure, flow, storage level requirements, MOC detailing, dosing studies, product fact checks such as membrane details. Perform line sizing and velocity check calculations Ensure correctness of P&ID and incorporate as sold requirements to customer on the P&IDs w.r.t to proposal engineering. Ensure correctness, verify and cross check process projection calculations , ex membrane tank sizing, blower capacity and sizing, air for mixing requirements Independently perform line sizing & velocity check calculations using applicable standards or best engineering practice Independently develop equipment list along with equipment weight calculations Thorough understanding and interpretation of MOCs, piping specifications with applicable codes & standards like ASME, ASTM, API, DIN Independently develop valve lists selecting compatible and optimized material constructs Independently develop electrical load list along with electrical load calculations. Independently develop pump sizing calculations for different application categories like centrifugal, reciprocating, axial, multistage pumps, etc. Independently develop blower sizing calculations for different application categories like centrifugal, reciprocating blowers Independently develop instrument list as per project specification Review & approve line sizing & velocity check calculations for different fluid applications Review & approve equipment lists along with equipment weight calculations Review & approve valve lists Independent preparation of technical package for critical commodities likes valves, instruments, specialty items such as bellows, ejectors Independent preparation of technical package for rotating equipments likes pumps, blowers, centrifuge, compressors. Independent preparation of technical package preparation of static equipments like atmospheric tanks, filter housings Perform manual material take off from PIDs, facility arrangement drawings or hand sketches Review material take off with piping specifications Coordinate with modelers to monitor design progress. Key Responsibility: 1) Prepare Correct and Optimum design Study tender documents and prepare a list of scope, specifications and queries with reference to their tender clauses and page numbers as per the required format (in SOP). Identify reference standards specified in the tender. Prepare the Technical bid document. Identify the critical / complicated items/units and identify the same in scope sheet. Identify any design risks involved and prepare the risk register. Review the complete design with the E&T & the discipline heads. 2) Provide correct BOQ at optimum cost Arrive at the BOQ as per the tender specification, design documents. Recheck the completeness of the BOQ as per the design / tender requirements. Review the BOQ with the respective discipline heads. Prepare enquiries to sub-contractors / vendors and finalize the best offer. Cross check with the sub-contractors / vendors offer with reference to earlier purchase orders/IFS/offers or by rate analysis (civil) and arrive at the best price. Prepare the correct interface schedule and co-ordinate with the other discipline leads. Co-ordinate with Sales team for identifying the scope split and JV partners scope understanding. 3) Support sales team for the post bid clarifications Compile the Client / consultant queries and prepare comprehensive replies with proper justifications. Communicate with other discipline leads for any variations in scope / values due to post bid queries and update the costing sheet accordingly. Discuss the impact of post bid queries with Engineering Head and convey to sales team. Update the documents as per the pre-bid queries. 4) Post order activities and Engineering work Ensure complete handover of relevant documents to execution team. Review & finalize complete BOQ & cost before ERP loading. Prepare the BEP in line with the tender specification / proposal submitted and well optimized. (Documents to be prepared: Process-Entire BEP, equipment data sheets; Civil-Layout & HFD, Piping-Layout, P&ID & HFD, E&I-Layout, P&ID & Control Philosophy). Support I&C for making the C&E chart, Block logic diagram and valve timing charts. Get regular feedback on the status of the project (Engineering & Construction). Support ensuring BOQ control in the BEP stage, including review of variance. Prepare the Master BOQ for the Project (Process & Mechanical Equipment list). 5) Support Procurement activities for awarded projects Provide technical specifications and cost basis for critical items. Identify & evaluate new vendors / contractors. Prepare the TBA and support project / engineering during vendor negotiations. Sign off the variance sheet. 6) Create a cost data base and Process Engineering templates Collect the as built mark up on the process related document and update all of them. Make a master BOQ of the Mechanical and Process items. Discuss with Engineering head and develop the best engineering practices and templates for the projects.
