Manual Quality Assurance Engineer

Manual QA: Platform Expertise

• Strong familiarity with platform software testing, including platform bring-up and validation of Base OS (Linux distributions), FPGA/ASICs.
• In-depth understanding of modular architecture in hardware, HAL, and software (e.g., controllers, partitions, tenants).
• Experience in testing high availability (HA), resource isolation, and multi-tenancy functionalities (e.g., Kubernetes - K8s, K3s).
• Expertise in validating core features such as networking, security, logging, and operational management.
• Proficiency in using and troubleshooting using CLI, REST API and web UI tools.
• Hardware Knowledge
• Basic understanding of networking hardware components such as BIOS, Firmware, FPGA.
• Proficiency in verifying health and diagnostics of hardware features (e.g., interfaces, ports, fans, power supplies).

Networking Expertise

• Knowledge of fundamental networking concepts: IPv4/IPv6 addressing schemas, L2/L3 connectivity, DHCP, DNS, NTP, etc.
• Understanding protocols like VLAN tagging, VXLAN, and IP routing. Defect Tracking and Reporting
• Proficiency in tools like JIRA, Bugzilla, or equivalents for defect tracking and reporting.
• Knowledge of standardized documentation practices.
• Ability to create and maintain detailed documentation of test suites, coverage matrices, and automation workflows.
• Proficiency in generating test reports with clear insights into test cases, defects, and performance metrics. Scalability and Endurance/Reliability Testing
• Ability to analyze hardware/software limits and validate control plane scalability under stress.
• Expertise in throughput and latency testing of the data plane.
• Tools and skills for longevity testing and baseline analysis. Security, Upgrade Testing and Lifecycle Management
• Knowledge of FIPS compliance testing, RBAC (Role-Based Access Control), and multi-user access controls.
• Ability to test secure API interactions, system hardening checks, TLS compliance, and certificate management.
• Capability to test upgrade/downgrade paths
• Familiarity with managing out-of-box setups, lifecycle updates, failover/resiliency testing, and backup/restore procedures.
