Manager - Sustainability (R&D)

Job Title: Manager - Sustainability (RD)Location: Chennai RDReports to (Position): Lehani VerweyDepartmentFunction:Main Responsibilities Job Summary(Primary deliverables of role and its scope)1. Develop and implement sustainability strategies within the RD function, aligning with the company s overall sustainability goals and the industry s best practices.2. Identify and develop sustainable product innovations, including low-rolling-resistance tires, lightweight tires, and tires with improved durability and recyclability.3. Conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for new tire products and materials.4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Product Groups, Compounding, manufacturing, and procurement) to integrate sustainability considerations into product development and commercialization.5. Stay abreast of emerging sustainability trends, regulations, and technologies relevant to the tire industry.6. Engage with external stakeholders such as industry associations, Suppliers, and academic institutions to foster collaboration and research Projects.7. Support the development and implementation of sustainability reporting and communication strategies.8. Support the sustainability certifications and audits in RD and plants.Knowledge (TechnicalFunctional)Experience in the tire industry or a related manufacturing sector.Knowledge of ISO 1404044 LCA standards.Experience with sustainability reporting frameworks such as GRI or SASD.SkillsAnalytical skills, IT skills, Team player Co-ordination skillsQualificationsMSc Chemistry B Tech in Rubber Technology Polymer Technology environmental science Chemical Engineering Sustainability, or PhD in a related field.Experience3 to 5 years of experience in sustainability, environmental management, or a related field.
