Manager - Sustainability (R&D)

As a Manager - Sustainability (R&D) at Apollo Tyres Ltd in Chennai R&D, your role will involve developing and implementing sustainability strategies within the R&D function. You will align these strategies with the company's overall sustainability goals and industry best practices. Your responsibilities will include identifying and developing sustainable product innovations such as low-rolling-resistance tires, lightweight tires, and tires with improved durability and recyclability. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and implement sustainability strategies within the R&D function - Identify and develop sustainable product innovations - Conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for new tire products and materials - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability considerations into product development - Stay updated on emerging sustainability trends, regulations, and technologies - Engage with external stakeholders to foster collaboration and research projects - Support sustainability reporting and communication strategies - Support sustainability certifications and audits in R&D and plants Qualifications: - MSc Chemistry/ B Tech in Rubber Technology/ Polymer Technology / environmental science /Chemical Engineering/ Sustainability, or PhD in a related field Experience: - 3 to 5 years of experience in sustainability, environmental management, or a related field Additionally, you should have experience in the tire industry or a related manufacturing sector. Knowledge of ISO 14040/44 LCA standards and experience with sustainability reporting frameworks such as GRI or SASD will be beneficial. Analytical skills, IT skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team are essential for this role. Your coordination skills will also play a crucial role in successfully integrating sustainability considerations into product development and commercialization.,
