Job Description

Role & responsibilities

  • Coordinate with import and domestic suppliers for quotations, price negotiation, order follow-ups, import documentation inline with production plans and business needs.
  • Support cost optimization initiatives through strategic sourcing and negotiation.
  • Possess sound knowledge of import documentation, including Letters of Credit (LCs).
  • Understand shipping procedures and Incoterms to ensure smooth import operations.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with planning, production, and warehouse teams to maintain optimum stock levels while avoiding shortages or excess.
  • Track market trends for raw materials and basic chemicals analyze price movements, availability, and demand-supply conditions to support effective sourcing decisions.
  • Coordinate with vendors for timely deliveries, resolve supply chain or quality issues, and maintain strong, long-term supplier relationships.
  • Coordinate with the Finance team to ensure timely processing of vendor payments as per agreed terms.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Plant teams for vendor qualification, material approval, and technical evaluations.
  • Create and manage Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs); handle the entire procurement cycle including RFQs, bid analysis, vendor negotiations, order placement, and delivery follow-ups.
  • Utilize e-procurement platforms and ERP systems (such as SAP, Ariba, or equivalent) for sourcing, approvals, and documentation to enhance process efficiency and transparency.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education:

    BE Chemical/ Graduate in Chemistry/ MBA in Supply Chain Operations.
  • Experience:

    4 - 10 years of experience in procurement of raw materials (preferably chemicals), including import coordination, vendor management, and supply chain operations.
  • Systems Knowledge:

    Hands-on experience with ERP or e-Procurement tools (SAP, Ariba, etc.).

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Good understanding of raw materials, basic chemicals, and supplier markets.
  • Vendor management and relationship-building skills.
  • Analytical mindset for price, cost, and market analysis.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP tools.
