Role summary

Responsible for leading the design and development of innovative tooling solutions that optimize production processes, improve product quality, and drive overall efficiency with strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Role & responsibilities

• Design and development of tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, work holders and other tooling for manufacturing processes.
• Assembly facilities like work holders, assembly tools, assembly trolleys, tool holders, press tools with SMED principles.
• Knowledge of PFD, PFMEA, control plans, and statistical process control (SPC), ergonomics, and Lean principles.
• Design and development of storage facilities considering the VSME principles.
• Conduct feasibility studies and simulations to evaluate design concepts and optimize tool performance
• Create detailed 3D CAD models and technical drawings for tooling fabrication.
• Concept design development of assembly equipment, testing equipment, gauging equipment for preparing RFQ and to discuss with the equipment manufacturers.
• Design for Zero Accident, Cost Reduction, Reduction in rejection rate and cycle time through process optimization
• Manage tooling projects from concept to completion, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
• Selection of AGV/AMR solutions for assembly and material handling
• Expertise in automation, robotics, PLCs
• Oversee Capital Projects and Manage CAPEX planning, Vendor Selection, commissioning of manufacturing systems and automation to enhance efficiency

Preferred candidate profile

• 12+ years of experience in design and development of tools, jigs, fixtures, work holders, inspection gauges, assembly facilities preferably within a manufacturing environment and other tooling components for manufacturing processes
• Expert-level skills in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) in 3D modelling and 2D drafting, and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other simulation software for performance analysis.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma).
• In-depth knowledge of various tooling types, including press tools, jigs, fixtures, and other manufacturing aids.
