Job Summary

Sales Manager (BESS)

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities for BESS solutions with utilities, IPPs, EPCs, developers, and large commercial & industrial customers.
  • Generate leads, build client relationships, and convert opportunities into orders.
  • Conduct client meetings, technical presentations, and product demonstrations.
  • Understand client requirements and propose appropriate energy storage solutions (standalone or hybrid with solar/wind).
  • Prepare and deliver techno-commercial proposals, quotations, and tender submissions.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, contracts, and agreements in coordination with the management and legal teams.
  • Maintain and track the sales pipeline using CRM tools and provide regular forecasts and reports.

Market & Product Strategy

  • Analyze market trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies in the energy storage sector.
  • Provide market intelligence to management for strategic decision-making.
  • Support product and marketing teams with customer feedback, pricing insights, and value proposition improvements.
  • Participate in exhibitions, seminars, and industry events to promote BESS solutions and build brand visibility.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with the technical and engineering teams to ensure proposed solutions meet customer needs and technical specifications.
  • Coordinate with procurement and operations teams for project costing and delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate with finance and project teams for proposal development, PPA structures, and financial models where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Education:

    B.E/B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or Energy Engineering. MBA in Marketing or Energy Management preferred.
  • Experience:

    310 years of experience in sales/business development in renewable energy, battery storage, solar, or power systems industry.
  • Technical Knowledge:

    • Understanding of BESS technologies (Li-ion, LFP, flow batteries, etc.)
    • Familiarity with inverters, BMS, EMS, and hybrid power systems.
    • Awareness of energy storage applications (peak shaving, frequency regulation, backup power, microgrids, etc.)
  • Commercial Skills:

    • Strong understanding of techno-commercial sales and project economics.
    • Experience in handling tenders, RFPs, and high-value negotiations.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Result-oriented with strong negotiation and closing skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to understand client needs and offer customized solutions.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently and in teams.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Sales revenue and order booking targets achieved.
  • Number of new clients and projects developed.
  • Pipeline conversion rate and customer satisfaction.
  • Market share growth in target segments.
