Manager - Quality Assurance

The primary focus of this role is to lead the quality assurance function and drive all quality initiatives. This role also acts as the management representative for ISO related activities in Legrand India.

• Design and implement best-in-class quality processes and lead all QA initiatives in the organization.
• Take ownership and accountability for all quality related issues.
• Manage, drive and track quality measures and meet targets on all measures first hand rejections, cost of non quality, customer returns index, calibration of instruments, etc.
• Drive all ISO system related activities as the management representative (MR) for Legrand and ensure 100% system compliance.
• Conduct internal audits and ensure closure of all non conformances.
• Actively participate in management review meetings for FACTOR and APEX.
• Manage field returns and suggest corrective actions.
• Ensure timely analysis and resolution of customer complaints.
• Exposure in sheet metal working and powder coating process
• Conduct root cause analysis of each product quality issue and present it to management.
• Conduct stage wise verification to check compliance as per stated requirements and analyze stage wise rejection to control CONQ and first hand rejections.
• Ensure effective quality assurance for products not made in India.
• Be an integral part of SGIA initiatives and audit the same on a monthly basis.
• Build a strong team in QA and train, develop and coach team members.
• Update the team with the latest developments in the QA field and give challenging assignments for development.

Functional Competencies:

• Understanding of product standards : Switchgear Products
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes of Switchgear Products
• Expertize in ISO, TQM, etc.
• Planning and organizing skills for QA functions including calibration and testing as per standard
• Problem solving approach and expertise in Quality Tools like 6 Sigma ,& 7 QC Tools ,SCP/SQC ,
• Customer perception monitoring
• Auditing of variouse process
• In depth knowledge of Indian and IEC standards for Switchgear Products
• Liasoning with BIS
• Decision making

Education:

• Bachelor degree in Engineering (BE), preferably in electrical/mechanical/production
• Relevant work experience of 10 - 15 years in quality department in a light engineering industry
• Experience of at least 1 to 2 years as a MR (management representative) and 5 years heading the QA function of a similar setup.
• Should have quality certifications like ISO, TQM, and Six Sigma, etc.
• Highly proficient in using MS-Office applications like excel, word and power-point ERP and technical tools like SPC and SOC
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
