Automotive Components Manufacturing {Battery Manufacturing) - We are seeking an exceptionally qualified and results-driven Manager for Mold Design to manage our Tool & Mold Design Department supporting the production of battery casings and covers mainly in large molds.
- This senior leadership role is based at our high-technology manufacturing facility in the Philippines and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of mold design, engineering excellence, and technical operations related to high-precision battery component manufacturing.
- Ideal candidate must be a hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in mold design, design software, and high-volume manufacturing environments, capable of driving operational excellence and developing high-performing engineering teams and developing/managing high-performing design teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and optimize all tool and mold design activities for battery casings, covers, components, and other assemblies, ensuring the highest standards of precision, durability, quality, and efficiency utilizing modern software including mold flow.
- Manage mold design and production automation components or machines, review and validate processes, ensuring designs are optimized for high-volume quality injection molding, manufacturability, and long mold life.
- Assist in mold tryouts for mold manufacturing and work according to the international standards.
- Drive the implementation of advanced design tools, simulation technologies, mold standard parts, and modern manufacturing methods to improve mold performance and reduce cycle time, scrap, and downtime.
- Manage departmental budgets, tooling costs, and capital expenditures with a strong focus on cost efficiency, tooling ROI, and profitability. Oversee daily administrative functions.
- Mentor, coach, and develop design engineers, mold and tooling specialists, and technical staff to build a skilled, cohesive, and high-performing team.
- Adapt to and embrace the local Philippine work culture while fostering a respectful, productive, and collaborative working environment with all departments connected.
- Drive continuous improvements in production quality while optimizing cost efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering design, mechatronic engineering, plastic engineering, or a related field (required).
- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in tool & mold design, preferably within battery components, automotive, or high-precision plastic injection molding environments.
- Must have knowledge of different plastic materials, mainly Polypropylene and recycling of materials.
- At least 5 years of proven management or supervisory level experience, leading engineering or tooling teams in complex manufacturing operations.
- Strong knowledge of common plastic materials, including both virgin and recycled grades, in compliance with ISO standards.
- Strong practical knowledge and expertise of tool & mold design, injection mold construction, CNC machining, and high-technology manufacturing processes.
- Must be willing to relocate and work in the Philippines for a minimum of 2-3 years or longer.
