Role Overview
As Manager of H P C Application Support, you will provide H P C resources, tools, and expertise in a complex Linux environment to accelerate business outcomes. Collaborate with Senior Manager to support research scientists, senior H P C SMEs (US/Prague/Singapore), Cloud Engineers, and Technical Analysts to build and maintain H P C applications, driving innovation in life-saving drug discovery at our company Research Labs. Ultimately, you will play a key role in implementing scalable and efficient solutions on AWS to support research scientists UX to utilize compute-intensive applications. We are looking for an individual with passion for H P C and motivated to provide worldclass H P C experience to enable research scientist to use the power of leading-edge science to save and improve lives around the world
What will you do in this role:
- Work closely with data scientists, developers, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of RStudio, Jupyter, VS Code, AWS Health Omics and many other applications.
- Provide first and second-level support for applications running on Linux systems, including troubleshooting and resolving complex issues.
- Track and manage incidents using a ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution and communication with users.
- Assist users with application-related queries, provide training, and create user documentation in collaboration with Senior Manager.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access to applications including but not limited to RStudio, Jupyter, and VS Code.
- Perform routine system administration tasks, such as system monitoring, and performance tuning.
- Provide advanced technical support for Posit products, including troubleshooting and resolving complex issues.
- Develop and maintain scripts to automate routine tasks and improve system efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development of best practices for application support.
- Work within a matrix organizational structure, reporting to both the functional manager and Hyderabad based Director, as well as collaborating with other teams.
- Participate in project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with both functional and project goals.
What should you have:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (with relevant experience). Bachelors degree in other fields with relevant and extensive experience is acceptable.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in application support within a complex Linux environment.
- Proficiency in Linux system administration, shell scripting (Bash, Python), and troubleshooting complex application issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain Posit Workbench, Connect, and Package Manager on Linux servers.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet) and monitoring tools (e.g., Cloud Watch).
- Familiarity with job schedulers like SLURM, AWS Parallel Cluster, Grid Engine, PBS Pro or other H P C workload managers.
- Strong analytical skills to assess and interpret complex data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey findings and recommendations.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential risks.
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate assessments and reporting.
- Understanding of relevant regulations and compliance standards.
- Ability to coordinate with various teams.
- Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
