Mainframe Developer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications on IBM Mainframe platforms. The ideal candidate must be proficient in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, and CICS, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, code, test, and deploy mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, and CICS.
• Perform batch and online processing tasks, production support, performance tuning, and system maintenance.
• Develop and optimize DB2 queries, stored procedures, and database access methods.
• Manage VSAM datasets, file structures, and data processing workflows.
• Troubleshoot application failures, job abends, performance issues, and integration errors.
• Participate in requirement gathering, impact analysis, code reviews, and release planning.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teamsbusiness analysts, QA, infrastructure, and operations.
• Create technical documentation, test cases, and support knowledge transition.
• Ensure compliance with coding standards, security, and best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 4 to 10 years of hands-on experience in IBM Mainframe development.
• Strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, and CICS.
• Experience with debugging tools, scheduler tools, and version control systems.
• Solid understanding of SDLC, ITIL processes, and production change management.
• Ability to analyze complex data structures, business rules, and application workflows.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and teamwork skills.

Preferred

Experience in Agile environments.

Exposure to modernization, migration, or integration projects.

Knowledge of REXX, Easytrieve, File-Aid, Endevor, CA7, Control-M, or equivalent tools.
