🔧 About the Role

Magento Lead Architect

✅ Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, design, and document the

    architecture of a multi-site Magento 2 (Luma-based) setup

  • Refactor, modularize, and stabilize

    legacy Magento code and custom extensions

    with minimal business impact
  • Define and enforce

    coding standards and best practices

    across backend and frontend teams
  • Own

    performance, scalability, indexing, and caching strategies

    , including Redis, Varnish, and Full Page Cache
  • Plan and execute

    phased modernization strategies

    (service contracts, decoupling, and future headless readiness)
  • Lead Magento

    upgrades, security patching, rollback strategies

    , and multi-environment DevOps coordination
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership and mentorship to development teams


🧠 Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years of Magento experience

    , including extensive hands-on work with

    Magento 2 (non-Hyvä, Knockout-based)

  • Deep expertise in Magento internals:
  • Dependency Injection (DI)
  • Plugins & Observers
  • Repositories & Service Contracts
  • Strong understanding of

    legacy Magento frontend architecture

    , including KnockoutJS and UI Components
  • Proven production experience with

    MySQL, Redis, Varnish, and Elasticsearch

  • Experience integrating

    ERP systems, payment gateways, and third-party Magento extensions

  • Solid knowledge of

    PCI compliance, security audits, and GDPR

    for enterprise Magento stores

  • Magento 2

    Architect or Developer Plus certification

  • Experience leading

    Magento upgrades or migrations in live production environments

  • Familiarity with

    headless commerce strategies
