Job Description

About the Role:

Loan Underwriter

Key Responsibilities:

Loan Evaluation & Risk Assessment

Review and analyze
loan applications, financial statements, credit reports, and supporting documents
.
Assess applicants creditworthiness, repayment capacity, and collateral adequacy.
Evaluate risk factors and make
loan approval, conditional approval, or denial recommendations
.

Compliance & Regulatory Adherence

Ensure all loan evaluations comply with
federal, state, and local regulations
.
Adhere to internal lending policies, credit guidelines, and risk management procedures.
Maintain accurate records for
audit, reporting, and regulatory purposes
.

Collaboration & Communication

Work closely with loan officers, mortgage specialists, and branch staff to
clarify application details and gather additional information
.
Communicate underwriting decisions to relevant stakeholders clearly and professionally.
Provide guidance and support to sales and branch teams regarding
credit requirements and risk mitigation
.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree or professional certification (MBA, CFA, or equivalent).
Experience in
mortgage, commercial, or personal loan underwriting
.
Familiarity with
automated underwriting tools, credit scoring models, and fintech lending platforms
.
