RHEL Certified Engineer core skills

OS Upgrades: Upgrade RedHat from unsupported version RHEL 5x, 6x, 7x to 8x or 9x

Platform Migration: Switching to a different OS with active support (Linux distributions, alternative *nix variants).

Virtualization: Encapsulating legacy systems within virtual machines to isolate them and extend their lifespan.

Compatibility Testing: Thoroughly testing applications and integrations for compatibility with newer OS versions or alternative platforms.

OS Upgrade Procedures: In-depth knowledge of in-place and fresh installation upgrade processes for Red Hat 8x and 9x

Physical and Virtual Server migration, upgrade process

Application Migration: Support Application team in Porting, repackaging, or rearchitecting applications to function on new OS versions or platforms.

Data Migration and Backup: Support Backup team in Securely transferring data and ensuring comprehensive backups before changes are made

Configuration Management: Tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to automate system configuration and ensure consistency during migration.

Cloud Migration: Assess the feasibility of moving EOL workloads to public cloud (AWS, Azure)

Change Management: Coordinate upgrades/migrations with minimal disruptions, ensuring stakeholder buy-in.
