Internship Opportunity
Division: Natural Heritage Campaigns (NHC) & Wildlife Crime Control
Location: Headquarters, Wildlife Trust of India, Noida
Duration: 3 months
Stipend: Rs. 9000/-
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct legal research on existing legal interventions by elephant range states.
Undertake a literature review of wildlife crime cases across the world, with emphasis
on India where legal intervention for Elephant conservation has worked positively
towards coexistence.
Analyze key legal interventions with respect to Elephant Conservation and compile a
detailed report on the same
Identify existing wildlife crime cases(related to elephant) in consultation with WTI’s
lead legal counsel, across India where WTI interventions/ nudges can be invoked
Identify existing wildlife crime cases in consultation with WTI’s lead legal counsel,
across India where compensation provisions can be invoked
Develop targeted case summaries on compensation in consultation with WTI’s lead
legal counsel
Coordinate with targeted stakeholders and undertake online research in gathering
information on compensatory measures
Coordinate with existing WTI Forest counsels in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, and
Madhya Pradesh in collating information on wildlife crime cases
Develop targeted case summaries in consultation with WTI’s lead legal counsel
Coordinate with stakeholders in gathering information on compensatory measures
Coordinate with existing WTI Forest counsels in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, West
Bengal and Uttarakhand in collating information on cases related to Elephant
Conservation.
Undertake field visits to collate information on targeted wildlife crime cases or
attend meetings with lawyers or project teams.
Assist the project team in drafting components of the technical and/ or donor
reports
Eligibility and Skills:
Student of law enrolled in a 5-year integrated law program, 3-year law program or
masters program.
Candidate needs to be physically present in office for this internship
Possess excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well with others or independently
Initiative to problem solve
Responsibility to complete projects by a pre-determined deadline
